I've forgotten about this video that I have! I love this song and it's one that I played many, many times while writing Virtually His and Virtually Hers. Enjoy! But remember, Gerard is still MINE.
Yesterday I went to see my man doing his magic in Michael Clayton. He looked soooo gooooood. And he acted the shit out of the main character, Michael Clayton.
The movie is a thriller for adults, with none of the Diehard fast-paced action that moves a plot breathlessly along. Yet the slowly building tension and unravelling of events still leave one breathless and at the edge of one's seat.
I really enjoyed my darling George's subtle and nuanced acting. Totally, totally OSCAR material. His eyes said everything that needed to be said about the situation he found himself in.
I liked that the writer, Gilroy, who also wrote all the Bourne movie scripts, treated the story intelligently, with rich dialogue that left lots of blanks for viewers to fill. No one was black and white; everyone's hands were dirty. Yet this cliche was handled without loud propaganda. The characters--even the bad guys--were given a human dimension rarely seen in good guy/bad corporation movies. The motivations behind each character was shown and not told, as each one desperately went after their own agenda.
Michael Clayton is the kind of story I love -- non-linear, unexpected twists, angsty male lead, untold background ripe for my imagination, layered dialogue. And of course, George Clooney in a New York suit, looking slightly ragged but still sexy and suave despite his standing at the edge of the cliff.
Go watch. Beautifully made movie. Beautifully made man. ;-)
And hey, don't miss the trailer of MY GERRY BUTLER in PS I Love You. He sure didn't look like King Leonidas in this one!
Ranger Buddy gave me my first August birthmonth present -- tearing off a double-layered roof that crumbles into moldy pieces at the first shovel. Life cannot get any ickier. And hotter.
No. It CAN get hotter!
I daydream while melting in the sun. I daydream of my helpers around me looking like these guys:
While I wipe the sweat out of my shingle-grimed fingers, I should be able to feast my eyes on swirling capes and broad, tanned chests such as these. Not the smoking, hanging potbellied, stinky, three-day old teeshirted variety that just kills my birthday mood ;-).
No, no, back to my daydream. In the middle of sweeping roof debris down into the dump truck, Gerard Butler in all his eight-pack glory will leap from the gable to my side to assist me.... These guys will stride around in their loincloths repairing rotten wood and carrying bundle of shingles for me. Yeah....
Happy Birthmonth, Gennita Low. ;-) And oh, you MUST watch ze video, set to Madonna's Vogue. It is Mah-vellous. There are such creative and talented people out there.
Up next, I think: Jacquelyn Frank's GIDEON. I enjoyed Jacob and JF's demon/druid world very much. Looking forward to this second book!
Actually, there are several books I would love to buy right now, but RWA is coming up and I can get autographed ones if I'm patient! Of course, I just stated a few days ago that I had to give away a box of books because of space problems, LOL. I just can't stop reproducing the piles!
When I visit my friends' houses, I'm always amazed at how neat their shelves are. Those who don't read much have uncluttered and OPEN shelves. One picture frame would take up an entire four foot section. I always want to yell at them, "Do you know that's Prime Space for at least 40 paperbacks doubledecked?!" ;-) On the other hand, when my friends visit me, they just stare at my shelves in horror. If they bring somebody new along, the person would say, "I guess you like to read, huh?"
Are you one of those who can't bear to box away their books in the attic/basement/garage? I need them all around me so that when I get the urge to reread a particular scene, it's somewhere... ummm...around that corner.... I actually know a few readers who just read the book once and then throw/donate it away; they never reread. Never reread! They said they don't have the time and besides, they don't get why people reread anyway. I bet they'll think me crazy if they ever see me sitting in a pile of books happily picking up one and then another and reading this scene and that scene ;-).
I was talking about Anne Stuart's Moonrise the last two days. Now I get the urge to go dig up that book and reread!
Why do you reread? Or are you one of those one-time-only readers?
Did you catch Gerard Butler on Conan last night? He was too, too cute, showing off his chest hair while telling about how he had to shave for the 300. Too, too cute for after midnight. Sigh.
Here is a Youtube video of gratuitous shots of Gerard Butler shirtless. Hubba, hubba!
Doesn't that make your Saturday a bit more brighter? ;-)
I'm sorry, Aimee, I WON'T SHARE HIM! Not yet ;-). I have all kinds of activities with which to occupy him, so he'll be TOO BUSY FOR YOU. These activities have to do with my research about commandos in action. That's right. You know I have to get ALL the juicy details for the books! LOL.

The end of April, I'll be off to TEXAS for the RT Convention. Anyone planning to go? My book will be out on the day of the signing!

Help. The closing speech for Colorado Romance Writers' Convention...not written yet. I have to be inspiring and interesting. HELP!

Writing the dynamics of a certain seven-member commando team has been a challenge. Not the same as the dynamics of a certain eight-member SEAL team. The former is more low-key and a lot more celebral than the latter. I was thinking, wouldn't it be fun to pit one group against the other? I might die of testosterone overdose, ya think?
I read in an interview this morning that it's not called a loincloth, but a leather CODPIECE. Awright. Good to know these things. Gerard and his leather cockpiece, lalalalalala.
And it was ON SALE at Ebay...for $4000. He signed it on the back with an admonition, "Wear with caution." Ya gotta love the guy's sense of humor ;-). I know you want to check out this link:
For me, for $4000, Gerard better come with it. LOL. Oooh, bad phrase.

Before I forget, I want to make sure all of you heard about the huge recall of pet food from some major supermarket chains (such as Walmart and Food Lion). Here is the link: RECALLED DOG FOOD LABELS. There are some popular brands which are affected, like Eukenuba, so please be careful.

I finally found J.R. Ward's newest, Lhover Revhealed. Can't wait to read it! It's the #1 book on the romance lists, you know!
Writing wise, I think I need to make my commandos wear some kind of codpiece. Just for Hell.
Whew, one down ;-). I was telling my friends how nervous I am about this new book. It's been a year and four months since my last book and it feels like a first book--the tension, the anxiety, the niggle of doubt. Also, I know that many readers are thinking this is going to be my usual SEAL-type or undercover operative thriller. As you can see from the review, it isn't. It's more techno-thriller. Or spy-fi.
In the writing world, they're always talking about branding. Suzanne Brockmann--and you think of SEALs, right? Sherrilyn Kenyon--vampires with a Greek mythology, right? Karen Marie Moning--damn hot Highlander druids, yes? Gennita Low??? No freaking idea.
Hmm....
Gennita Low, sexy vegetables.
Gennita Low, hodgepodge of CIA/SEALs conspiracy thrillers.
Gennita Low, international espionage.
You see? I'm a horrible publicist.
But I do know how to celebrate each week ;-). It's STILL GERARD BUTLER WEEK! Gennita wants Gerard. I brand him MINE.
It's official. I came home yesterday and addressed all my Spartan furbabees that This is now LURV GERARD BUTLER week. Yes, I went to see Sparta and that all but sealed my all-time love for this man (since his sleek Attila The Hun days). And did he display all his manness in this movie, YUM!
He's just wicked sexy as get-out. He wets my dreams, 'kay? And Gerard Butler with wicked abs of steel makes me sigh with female joy. Heh heh. I want to be Queen Gorgo, 'kay? Then life would be complete.
Wait, wait, you say. Jenn, you lusty cheatress. What about your lurv for George Clooney? Isn't he Number One?
But of course. But George's debonair and ultra cool. He's, like, whip cream on top Waffle Gerard. I can't see him all oiled up in a loin cloth and a big sword. Not yet, anyway, heh.
Gerard Butler would rip my Clooney's heart out and eat it for breakfast. That's how manly he is.
OTOH, I don't see why can't I have both. They don't need to know. Shhh.
But Jenn, WHAT ABOUT THE MOVIE?
Oh, I didn't know I was supposed to review the movie ;-). It was a lot less gory than I thought. The fake blood helped to deflect all the chopped limbs flying around. My eyes were too busy admiring the red-caped all but nekkid heros. My mind kept wanting to replay the ten-second scene of Leonidas making love to his Queen. THAT is worth buying the VCD to watch over and over. Hawt.
Below is an amusing interview of a very bawdy Gerard talking about his sex scene in the 300. And the review captured my reaction very well: "300 half-nekkid men, ready and sweaty, with swords of various sizes, un...sheathed..., preparing for battle in a Very Narrow Canyon...I think I'm going to need some alone time." LOL. That about says it all.
