Up next, I think: Jacquelyn Frank's GIDEON. I enjoyed Jacob and JF's demon/druid world very much. Looking forward to this second book!
Actually, there are several books I would love to buy right now, but RWA is coming up and I can get autographed ones if I'm patient! Of course, I just stated a few days ago that I had to give away a box of books because of space problems, LOL. I just can't stop reproducing the piles!
When I visit my friends' houses, I'm always amazed at how neat their shelves are. Those who don't read much have uncluttered and OPEN shelves. One picture frame would take up an entire four foot section. I always want to yell at them, "Do you know that's Prime Space for at least 40 paperbacks doubledecked?!" ;-) On the other hand, when my friends visit me, they just stare at my shelves in horror. If they bring somebody new along, the person would say, "I guess you like to read, huh?"
Are you one of those who can't bear to box away their books in the attic/basement/garage? I need them all around me so that when I get the urge to reread a particular scene, it's somewhere... ummm...around that corner.... I actually know a few readers who just read the book once and then throw/donate it away; they never reread. Never reread! They said they don't have the time and besides, they don't get why people reread anyway. I bet they'll think me crazy if they ever see me sitting in a pile of books happily picking up one and then another and reading this scene and that scene ;-).
I was talking about Anne Stuart's Moonrise the last two days. Now I get the urge to go dig up that book and reread!
Why do you reread? Or are you one of those one-time-only readers?
I mean, I never get tired of looking at Gerard:

Yikes! Not re-read? There are some books-worlds-that are comfort food for the soul.
OK, cookbooks tend to be boxed up and donated, but that's just sensible.
OMG, yes! I reread A LOT! Some of my fave rereads are Nora Roberts(of course), but the one I reread the most is The Heart of Devin MacKade. That man just makes me sigh. Love it. Some of Sandra Brown's older works.. The Tiger Prince, In A Class By Itself, Long Time Coming, Love's Encore. Good ones there. Sarah McCarty's Promises series, but mostly Promises Linger as Asa is a cowboy to die for.
Recent books that I think will be re-reads are Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling world books. They are outstanding.
Box up books? GASP! Not even duplicates! I just give those away! Boxing up books, to me, is sacrilege! Heathens box up books! LOL My shelves aren't, um, as neat as they should be because I'm running out of room. *G*
Despite my ever growing TBR pile, I love to reread. Soetimes it's certain sections, other times it's the complete book. If a book is part of a series and an old friend pops up in the new book, I often revisit the book the friend was featured in. Whenever I'm feeling down, I know I can always pick up a book to lift my spirits.
Just received an ARC of Marjorie
Liu's Soul Song, so I'm off to find a nice comfortable spot to read!
Jenn, I'm such an avid re-reader that it's hard for me to read something new sometimes. Yes, boxing up books is extrememely difficult for me but I have no choice. Remember, I have access to books and books and books so my TBR pile will never get smaller.
Fortunately I created a database for my library and I even have a field for "location" so I can find any given book quickly. Well, in theory anyway. Unfortunately I'm probably about 100-200 books behind in data entry and I keep bringing more books home. It's a disease but I'm not really looking for a cure. {{grin}}

I love to re read and when I know an author has a new one coming, I often re read series. As for shelves I get the bewildered look to! They are all double stacked at the moment as I am waiting for the dh to get his ass into gear a build some more. Mine are all just ouside in the bedroom and I see them everytime I walk down the hall. Biblophile and all that!
Antonia,
How many cookbooks do you have? And do you cook every delicious recipe? ;-)
I can't imagine not rereading either. It's like not making that same delicious favorite dish ever again after one try!
Anne,
Some of the books you mentioned are on my Keeper Shelves! Nora takes up bunches of space, especially stories of brothers. Yum! I love her family stories.
Mec,
You have Marjorie's newest? Damn, I'm jealous. That's another one on my keeper shelf. And you're right, favorite books and rereading comfort me during times of stress. The scenes I love take my mind off my problems.
Dee,
That's why I can't data-entry and keep a book bibliography, I get behind! I would be hundreds and hundreds behind each time I tried. And you know I'm jealous of your access to those many books!
Sarah,
Ah, so that's what dhs are for, LOL. I wish I can convince my guys to build me shelves. I have to either pay somebody to do them or buy expensive ones. I don't like putting together shelves either, can't seem to follow instructions...so books on floor, under bed, on dining table, on top of hutches....yikes!
I lurve Moonrise. Soooo good.
Yes, I am a re-reader. I've been re-reading Linda Howard's recently. I never understood the concept of re-reading until I re-read a book that I hadn't read for about a year. Just like reading it for the first time!
