A hawk has eaten most of his siblings. He fell from the tree and followed me around the roof all day. I couldn't get him back up the tree and besides, it's freezing tonight, and the hawk is waiting for him. So he's staying with me till it's warm enough to release him into my backyard where there are many trees.
For now, his name is Mikey. Here he is, sleeping on a warmed rice-sock that I made for him; I found out that baby squirrels can't make their own body heat. Tomorrow I'll go buy some Esbilac and carrots. Wish me luck with keeping Mikey from the big bad hawk!

Hey Jenn, good luck with Baby Mikey.
Not sure if you remember, but I raised a baby squirrel from infancy to adulthood. So if you have any questions let me know.
For one thing, if he is still nursing- the formula that is closest to the protein/fat content in squirrel milk is kitten formula- with one egg yolk mixed into the can. Not the whole egg. Just the yolk. The vet who was working with me to keep my little guy alive told me this.
They also need to be feed much more often than kittens or puppies. I think it was every 3-4 hours.
If you have any question you can contact me at tlmonsey@gmail.com
that is so adorable.
That is the cutest thing I've seen in a while. How is Pepe taking not being the center of attention?
Alund,
He is very curious and wants to play with or eat Miki! Jiggy is the possessive one and he whines and barks when I feed her. He doesn't want me to pay her too much attention.
Super sweet, Gennita. You're an angel. :)
