Clearly, my angst has not subsided. My apologies if you were asking a rhetorical question. I descended into a red haze of rage fueled by those who follow double standards. It is annoying the living pee pee out of me that there was a news story that wanted to discuss whether his political career was redeemable. Just exactly WHEN did morality and doing the right thing go out of style?

Ferah, I know the song and the play, but the fact that he used it in his speech is what confuzzled me. The words of the songs--either he's being ironic or sarcastic, I don't know. And was he referencing his lover in Argentina or his wife? Or the people of SC? See? Very odd.
You know, the man should change his political mascot. He needs to be the A$$ because he sure as heck acts like one. So he's DEFINATLY is not speaking about us folks here in SC. I can tell you that! I think the moron is was speaking about his lover. My heart goes out to his wife and children. They have to be humiliated beyond belief. He doesn't represent this state or anything else very well. The people of SC are beyond angry and embarrased about his ignorance and lack of caring about his family.
Gennita, my apologies for misunderstanding your post. In no way did I mean to sound snarky (about anything but the jackass). I agree with Lisa: he was referencing his mistress. Shame, shame to him. (I also want you guys to know that I'm in my late 30's and am doing the "shame" finger because I'm clearly channeling my grandma right now.)

Oh, no need to apologize at all. The man deserves all your anger and disappointment--plus his family's and those who had put their trust in him. It used to be all so discreet, you know? Not A PLANE RIDE all in plain view of everyone....
