Deserted Island Time

The ladies at DIK LADIES RULES have kidnapped me to their deserted island. I'm allowed to bring five books, so I chose:

Linda Howard's Diamond Bay. JD Robb's Naked In Death. Helen Mittlemeyer's Princess of the Veil. Susan Johnson's Outlaw. One/any Helen Bianchin. Dinah McCall's Jackson Rule. You know I'm going to cheat and download a ton of books onto my super-laptop too, right?

I also was given the opportunity to bring some of my men (hey, deserted island means something else, 'kay?). So I brought MY ENTIRE DEUX DU COMMANDO boys along (I'm sure you've seen this video before). I think they'd be perfect for a deserted island ;-).

What would be the five MUST-HAVE books you bring with you if you were kidnapped to a deserted island? Don't cheat--you can't say you're bringing an entire series of books!

Thank you, DIK Ladies, for inviting me to your party at your blog. What fun to not just bring books, but favorite men too!

So, let's look at your list, Sexy Veges.

P/S. VINCE, if you're reading this, you can play along by stating your must-have books and a favorite lady to bring along ;-).

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

Only five books?!? That's just cruel!

I guess if a series doesn’t count then a 3-in-1 volume doesn’t either, eh? Okay, let’s see . . . I’d have to choose the Woodwife, by Terri Windling; the Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged) by Alexandre Dumas; Someplace to Be Flying, by Charles de Lint; the Far Pavilions, by M.M. Kaye; and Last of the Breed, by Louis L’Amour.

As for men . . . any hawt nekkid men are more than welcome to join me on my little island paradise. ;-)

Jenn! {wailing} So NSFW!! Oops! ;) 5 books and only 5? I might die... that is just not enough!! LOL Ok, let's see then.

Facing Fear
Virtually His
Magic's Price* (Mercedes Lackey)
Relic of Empire* (Michael Gear)
Jane Eyre

* last book of a trilogy since I can't have all 3

Kinda tough... I picked the ones I seem to read a lot. As for men, if I can only pick one, I would take my husband. If I could bring a second, I'd bring my curling husband too (Jenn, he's the one I told you about who explained to me about the Chinese way of sibling numbering).

Oh wow cool!

Wow, good choices! Not one romance, huh?

I'm sorry! I forgot...NSFW! But did you enjoy? ;-)

And thank you for using up TWO spots for my books. Wow!

Mo said...

LOL! I turned it off so fast I had no time to enjoy! As for 2 spots, these are the books I read the most. BTW, though not romance, if you are into space operas, Michael Gear's trilogy (the one I'm choosing the last book of) is GREAT!

OOOOOOOOOh baby, I want them too! Forget the books, hawt nekked hotties are more fun. Tho chocolate is a must and some kind of refrigeration method to keep it from melting. Unless the hotties and I are to indulge in a hedonistic chocolate bath of some sort.
As for books, why Heath and Cumber babies books of course!

Five books is very difficult, but assuming I'd eventually be rescued:

Lord of the Rings
Virtually His
Tom Sawyer
The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

As for a favorite lady - I think my ex. It know it sounds odd, but we've rebuilt our friendship, she's smart, funny, plays a mean game of cribbage, and loves to read as much as I do. I could do a lot worse :-).

And thanks for letting me bring a lady. Makes it easier to play.

Mo, I'll try to remember to get that title when I go book buying.

Really interesting list there, Vince...with Virtually His among that awesome group of classics! Whoa...and wow! And yeah, I figure you wouldn't be happy on deserted island with just books and no sweet lady by your side ;-).

That's the last book in the trilogy. If you decide to try it, you should buy Requiem for the Conqueror first.

I'm with the others who've said just 5 books is a travesty.

But if I had to choose it'd be five from my favorites list that are the longest books.

These would include:

Time Masters Book One: The Call by Geralyn Beauchamp

A Passion Most Pure by Julie Lessman

Cyndere's Midnight by Jeffrey Overstreet (Already read book 1- Auralia's Colors and couldn't do without at least one lyrical writer in my stack while marooned)

A Bible because it would give me a considerable volume of reading to kill the time and because my faith is often my main inspiration and sole encouragement in life.

The last would be several reams of blank paper bound as a journal for recording my thoughts and feelings during whatever length of time I was marooned and keeping lists of all the books I am missing that I couldn't bring so I can reread them again when I am rescued.

Or perhaps I'd replace one book with an ereader jammed to the gills.

Ereader? Cheating ;-). Next you'll be qualifying that it's a SOLAR powered one, yes?

Okay, in a real life deserted island situation, the Bible is a must--it has all the best stories and inspiration words.
