My Gift To You/ BBW Ch. One

EDITED:
I forgot that I've taken out the author's note and prologue in this version. I've since readded the Author's Note to this file. Author's Note is the back story of how BBW got written.

Big Bad Wolf was my first manuscript which finaled in the Golden Heart in 1999. I'm giving it away, chapter by chapter, in the weeks to come as a thank you to all of you who visit my blog and who have been so supportive of my current publishing problems.

Here's the prologue and first chapter of Big Bad Wolf. Enjoy!

And comments always welcome. This was my first manuscript so I'm basically hitting "SEND" with my eyes close, going "argghhhhhhhhhhh!" Still, it finaled twice as a Golden Heart entry, so it couldn't have been that bad ;-).

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

makin me work ;). cool i like it so far, its neat reading about your other work. two questions though, why did you go into roofing if i may ask, (no worries if you don't want to answer, im private myself). and two if nick is one of the nine, i dont remember his name... am i forgetting it or is he one of the ones that died? or should i just be quiet and keep reading?

I have to say, I absolutely love this. I like chapter one and am even diggin the anticipation of the next one. I really dig the fact that she is doing such a physical, male dominated job. She's a great feminist and I can't wait to find out more about here, the man from her past, per seemingly horrible father, and of course, the new hottie on the job site.

I can't wait to find out what or who forced him to go underground. Oh, and thanks for the "outie" belly button. We never get to see characters (males, usually) with anything other than "perfect and normal" man parts.

One more thing, thank you for thanking and gifting us. Although I must say, you with your fabulous writing and fun & enlightening posts (I still won't forgive you for the Mexican donkey thing, though) has made us addicted to your books and blog.

I love it, he's got more personality than his cousin. Who probably knows where he is and what he had for lunch. He would also kick his butt for not telling him.

Thanks for reading, everyone!

Kim, not making you work ;-). Those "Yell Boxes" only allow like two long sentences and your questions needed paragraphs.

I went into roofing when the pay for teaching with a master's degree wasn't enough to pay my bills. Having a master's degree meant working without a contract, most of the time, and sometimes you get only one class instead of, let's say, five. Well, one summer, I was given just one class and I was so damn poor I was eating rice and beans for months. Roofing basically saved me from dying of hunger ;-).

As for Killian, you have to look at this site:
http://daglowworld.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
where you're given a short timeline of what happened during the Big Bang.

There were several COS commandos and GEM operatives MIA or KIA after that Big Bang.

Hope my answers help! Do you want to read the abandoned Prologue? It's only one page and sort of summarize a Big Bang and what happened, but I didn't think it was needed so I took it out during rewriting of Chapter One last night.

Hi Deb,

Thank you! You made my day. To be honest, I was very nervous posting this because it's the "first" manuscript, you know? Written so long ago. My style is different now and hopefully, better ;-).

As for the donkey show, HEY, you clicked on the link! Ha.

Tsk, Lady Zannah, tsk, tsk. So bias against that certain someone.

no worries, i gotcha, s'why i needed a few entries to ask :).

yea you really do need a phd to do any real university teaching unforch, sorry bout that, and sorry you have to miss your friend jamie.

i guess nick just left the "big bang"? apparently he is a cousin to someone... didnt the mcmillians have a bunch of cousins?

perhaps the prologue would help when you get a chance.. lol i actually started pawing through the other books trying to figure out who he might be :)

Kim,

A little hint on the cousin. Definitely not a Macmillan. Check out Dr. Kirkland's files. They may help you. ;)

I was just going to ask how you got into roofing!

Thanks for posting this, looking forward to reading the rest.

Vanessa,

Thanks for reading my "first" manuscript. My stomach is still churning from posting it...it's just not easy, knowing that it's that "first" manuscript!

As for roofing, you should have seen me then. Never picked up a hammer or nail ever, or worn a tool belt, or looked inside a toolbox....
