Yes, That Was Me Screaming

I was going to post some cool links on the new interactive Virtual Reality chairs that are available at research universities. I was going to have some fun talking about blogs and their addictiveness.

It was all going to tie together with virtual happiness and virtual giggliness.

That was before a post in my Yahoogroup telling me that Amazon has changed the pub date of Virtually Hers to Dec. 2008. Arrghhhh. :::world crumbing around my feet::: The editor has confirmed this. As you know, authors have no power over pub dates. Nor do editors, by the way. But Dec. 2008??? Argghhhh :::pulling my hair, rending my clothes, covering myself in ashes:::

ARGGHHHHhhhh.
ARGGHhhhhhhhhhhhh.
ARRHGGHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhh!

:::composing self:::

Must. Be. Professional. About. This.

My first thought was how to make this up to my many readers who are anticipating Virtually Hers coming out as much as I am. I owe so much to you all for being so patient with, and supportive of, me. It's not easy to want a book and it not being available; been there done that. And the emptiness between now and Dec. of next year is Not Good.

So, anyway, after mulling about this, I'm thinking of giving you all Big Bad Wolf this December, downloadable from my website. BBW is the story pertaining to Number Three, the missing (and dead) operative, Killian McNeil. He's Jed's cousin brother. This story is set five years prior to the action in the Virtually Series, the period I call the Big Bang (click on Da Glow World link). It was written for old (pre-2000, longer format) Silhouette Intimate Moments in mind. I'll have to talk to my agent about this, of course. If it's not possible, I'll offer something else.

Taking deep breath.

Life, as always, sets new challenges.

Dear readers, please accept my apologies. I'll make it up to you this December, I promise.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign. We won't buy another MIRA book until they move Jed's story back to 2007!! LOL

Sigh. Oh well, 2008 is looking good for pushed back books. (Jed's story. Acheron's story.) Oh well, we know it's the publisher's fault, not yours. Big hug, Jenn!!!

Maybe you shouldn't work with them anymore? Where is the respect?

I'll second the Big Hug, but perhaps you can work with another publisher and write Alex and T's Story in the interim?

Shit that sucks! Especially for a book that is so closely tied to the first book. What are they thinking? I am so sorry chick! I was just talking to Linda T yesterday because she was thinking it was coming out in Aug and I came here to check and it said Dec, I didn't realize it was 2008!!!! Anything we can do to help, let us know.

You do not need to apologize to us. We know you don't have control over this BUT, if you feel the need to throw us a bone, I know I'll have fun gnawing on it, LOL.

I'm sorry! That's totally the suckage.

I can't believe that they're delaying the release for over a year - they must have rocks in their heads!

Will wait, but it won't be easy!

I am all for writing letters.

I can't believe that! December of 2008???? It's a SERIES! This really sucks for us, but how awful for YOU. Ugh.

huh? why?
oh i get it, because the government is in the book, they want the publishing to act like the government, slow and cumbersome. it takes at least two years to route a document through the system at our command, so therefore it would be a more realistic book if it took longer?

I feel like pulling my hair out so I can just imagine how you feel.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

I can imagine you must feel like your Personal Portrait right about now.

Keep the faith, we all know it has nothing to do with you.

I thought the release date was moved from Aug to Dec 2007. I didn't realize it's 2008 not 2007!!! This totally sucks. Sorry Jenn. {{hugs}}

Dang it!!!

I'll wait of course, but SHEESH!!!
WTF are they thinking to do that!?

Hang in there Jenna, (((hugs!)))

This bites. I can't believe it's going to be more than a year between books. It doesn't make sense.

Don't apologise. It wasn't your decision to push it back so far.

Everyone,

Thank you so much for your wonderful posts and emails. I can't express in words how disappointed I am that I can't share Jed's story with you this year. Argghhhh.

Like I said, I hope to make it up to you by giving you Big Bad Wolf, one of the first stories I wrote, for December or January. But first, I'll have to clear it with my owners ;-). A signed author's "future" works is seen as an "option" by her publisher, which basically means an author can't just sell her stuff willy-nilly while under contract. Since I'm thinking of giving it away for free, I don't know whether this would be a problem. I'm still relatively new in the business, so I'm not sure what I'm thinking is feasible.

No matter what, I'll think of something to offer in Dec/Jan. It would be something to look forward to instead of moping around my house during the Christmas season, right?

Any reason why they pushed the release date so much later?

Good Gawd! They give you killer deadlines and hold back the release of VHis so that they can schedule a one-two release with VHers, *then* postpone VHers by a year and a half?!? That's major suckage.

You might want to reconsider other publishers after the third book is done.
