What To Wear, What To Wear

So I was doing a little online shopping, looking for some sexy stuff to wear for the different balls at Romantic Times. For those who have never been to this wonderful readers convention, each night celebrates a different genre and attendees dress up (or down!) in different costumes and boogie the night away. There's the Vampire-themed ball (last year it was Vampire Pirates of the Carribean--too fun!), the Faerie Ball (men and women with giant wings, LOL), the rock-and-roll party, and the sexay Ellora's Cave Fantasy Ball.

Anyway, I was searching for different costumes and nearly choked when a friend emailed me this one:

Oh yeah. I can just see me with that buckle holding me up. The mind boggles at the thought of how that one strap would prevent slippage while one tries to walk across a room. I suppose jiggling on the dance floor is out of the question. Especially in THOSE SHOES. :horrors:

I'm not sure what that loop of cloth is for in the front. Maybe for one to hide one's purse.

Would it frighten you off if I told you I've seen worse costumes at the ball? ;-)

*********************

The RT Convention is really about readers celebrating their love for the romance genre. Everyone has a good time, enjoying the authors, books, models, and everything in between. During the day, they hold workshops and signings; at night, they party their asses off. Nobody takes themselves too seriously. Except for that lady I saw leading a buff and tan man off in velvet chains and handcuffs. Oh my. But that's another story ;-).

I'm looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones. Here are some of the authors/buddies I'll be drinking wine with:

Marjorie Liu (no intro needed. She's tall, she's beautiful, she writes 1,000,000 words a day, and I love her books. Hate her, love her books. Would kill her except she's, like, ten feet tall and could smash me with her stiletto. Hmm...she could probably wear the above dress...;-P) Oh, yeah...time to photoshop this:

If you notice, I have to chop off her legs in this photo, they were so damn long. Heh heh. Aww...Marjorie, I'm just kidding, just kidding!!!

Heather Graham (here is the Queen of Graciousness and Best Hostess in the world. I love Heather because she's always charming and ready to have fun. And you got to love a woman who can play Jack Sparrow and look sexy!)

Arianna Hart, who once dressed as a kinky nurse at the Fantasy Ball. She's my partner-in-crime when it comes to stealing beautiful posters of half-nekkid men.

Kayla Perrin, who will dance your shoes off.

Jordan Summers, another talented author, who doesn't know I have these pictures of her ;-). Where was your vampire costume, Jordan?!

There are so many more but it'll take me all morning to post their pictures. I love meeting everyone and getting signed books for next year's reading (sigh, yes, I am VERY behind in my reading).

The books I'm looking forward to reading next are Linda Howard's newest Silhouette and Anne Stuart's newest Ice book (sorry, title escapes me...Ice Blue???).

Probably more online shopping tonight, since I don't think that first dress can be worn in public ;-). Not by me, anyway!

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

Gennita, Goodness! I was trying to eat when I dropped by your site. You won't have time to kill Marjorie because I'm going to take you out for putting up that awful picture of us together. Could it be at a worse angle? I think NOT! Cringe.

I think the fabric loop is where you can store popcorn in case you get hungry after working the pole those shoes were designed for.

Nice frock, but I'd be worried my boobs would fall out all over the show! Hope Rt is most groovy!

LMAO, if I had your body I would wear it! Then you have the models do their civic duty and be on boob patrol for you, if a nip pops out ask them to kindly put it back in, LOL.

Good luck on your shopping. Can't wait to hear of your adventures! and lots and lots of pics!

What Leiha said, lots & lots of pics!

I say get the red dress, or something like it *EG* you'd get all the love eh? hehehehe, all those beautiful hot guys would be all... "hey babe! Need a hand?"
Nuff said LOL

Hi Jordan,
It's not a bad picture of you! I'm cringing at me! But then, I look awful at close ups, unlike Leiha dearest.

Lauren,
Popcorn? Why didn't I think of it?! Yes, I can just see the spray of white flakes as she swirls around the dance floor....

Sarah,
Boobs falling out and feeling Mighty Cold.

Leiha,
Figure? At five feet one, this dress will look fabulously dumpy on me, LOL. And with my non-salinized boobies, that buckle would squish everything into nice pancakes. LOL. Oh yeah, I can just see me in it.

Aimee,
Yes, with those ten inch platforms, I'll definitely need a hand to walk across the room! Heh heh. You girls are evil. You're supposed to encourage me dress in a nice authorly suit!

Aimee Elizabeth said...

Where is the fun in that? LOL
You're beautiful, and you'll look awesome whatever you wear. Hopefully NOT a nice "authorly" (is that a word? LOL) suit!

Leiha said...

Girl, that's what alterations are for!!!

Gennita said...

Aimee,

Well, authorly during the day, then! ;-)

Leiha,
So, are you suggesting that I alter the size of my boobs and take some human growth hormone? Heh heh.

Leiha said...

LMAO, I was just thinking of altering the hem of the dress but if you feel the need, sure, alter the boobies, LOL.
