Uber Brand Me!

The first review for VIRTUALLY HIS is out! Here's the link:

RRAH Review of VIRTUALLY HIS

Whew, one down ;-). I was telling my friends how nervous I am about this new book. It's been a year and four months since my last book and it feels like a first book--the tension, the anxiety, the niggle of doubt. Also, I know that many readers are thinking this is going to be my usual SEAL-type or undercover operative thriller. As you can see from the review, it isn't. It's more techno-thriller. Or spy-fi.

In the writing world, they're always talking about branding. Suzanne Brockmann--and you think of SEALs, right? Sherrilyn Kenyon--vampires with a Greek mythology, right? Karen Marie Moning--damn hot Highlander druids, yes? Gennita Low??? No freaking idea.

Hmm....

Gennita Low, sexy vegetables.

Gennita Low, hodgepodge of CIA/SEALs conspiracy thrillers.

Gennita Low, international espionage.

You see? I'm a horrible publicist.

But I do know how to celebrate each week ;-). It's STILL GERARD BUTLER WEEK! Gennita wants Gerard. I brand him MINE.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. I even asked readers where they'd categorize me and they couldn't come up with a category. *ggg* Sigh.

Whew! I'm really pleased with the review, aren't you? I'm hoping AAR wakes up, too, and gives it at least a B but I'm not holding my breath.

As for the remote-viewing comment by the reviewer, I had the same problem with Feehan's Shadow Game which I'd just read recently. VH's remote-viewing sounds very much like Feehan's Dream-walking and I had the same difficulty figuring out whether the characters were 'in-dream' or 'out-dream', what was real and what was 'dream-virtual'. In the end, because the action/story was interesting, I let go of trying to understand everything and just went with the flow.

It wasn't because I didn't get this dream-walk thing but more Feehan's writing or the editing. It could have been made clearer but it was minor and didn't spoil the story. In VH's case, at least now I know what to expect and being part of your Yahoo Group helps a lot. Otherwise, I know I would have been lost at the start and given up. That would have cost me what I know is going to be an exciting trilogy!

Jordan,
It's tough, isn't it? I get advice like, "find a niche, feel the niche, be the niche," and I keep asking, without success, "But what is my niche?" ;-)

Aimee,
You get some more Gerard pics for this week, don't worry. But he's MINE. You hear me? All mine.

Elaine,
Be brave, sweetie ;-). Everything is possible with science.

Sarah,
You have to tell me what you think of the 300. And whether the Nzealanders like it as much as us! And May 1 will be here in no time! Hugs, miss your emails!
