Uber Author Finds A Parody of Virtual Hell

I'm still trying to recover from The New Batwoman lifestyle. Next, they'll find a bi-sexual superhero, I'm sure. Candidates, anyone?

EDITED TO ADD:

I came home from work and here's what I got in my mailbox in response to my blog-post today regarding Sapphic Super Heroines. Kathleen, you asked how I get my pictures and other various stuff...well, now you know--things just appear magically in my mailbox!

TODAY'S WRITING LESSON: A PLOT, A PLOT to bury my head in....

You don't want any SUPER HEROINES like these mamacitas below. OH. MY. GOD. From what I gather, this is part of a real movie. Oh. My. God. The title says it all--Virtual Superheroines: Hypno Slaves. Bwah!

WARNING: FIRST VIDEO HAS B-MOVIE SEXUAL CONTENT OFFENSIVE TO SOME. CLICK ON ARROW TO STAY ON THIS PAGE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Here's another preview of the movie minus the sexual content. NOTE the excellent acting, especially the way the superheroines were posing as they struggled against the hypnotic light that looked oddly like a police siren. The mention of "TRIGGER WORD" cracked me up. Ahhhhh...I see a whole new parody of SLEEPING WITH THE AGENT.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Snork! I'm sorry if I offended anyone. Definitely not SERIOUS AUTHOR material here. Sigh. Blame it on my mailbox.

Okay, we'll now proceed with what I wrote this morning before those videos showed up and disrupted my serious day.

Yesterday, I talked about the little bit of cover art control an author has at my new publishing house. And then we had fun with some Mr. Romance photos ;-).
As you all know, I'm not overly fond of the tiny matchstick-legged running couple covers that invaded romantic suspense a few years back. I think they're running out of steam, thank God, since I haven't seen them too much lately. There's more focus on covers such as Linda Howard's Kiss Me While I Sleep, which I found really subtly sexy, but would you know that it's a romantic suspense if you didn't know the author? I do like the jewel tones, though. Caught my eye. Cherry Adair's covers have always been really, really beautiful. Me--matchstick man, matchstick woman, matchstick running couple....envy, envy.

So I'm anticipating seeing what my "new" look's going to be like. I know some of you posted that you didn't want the covers to be too sexy, but looking at Mira Books covers, I haven't seen anything in that line that would make any of you embarrassed about holding it up in public transportation.

I simply love the new Dorchester covers for Marjorie Liu. Man, I'd kill to have that artist draw something for Hell and her Man. Have you seen her latest? So darn eye-catching. I keep forgetting to rub her on the noggin for Chinese good luck, so I can get some of that gorgeous cover mojo.

My favorite drawn cover for romantic suspense of all time is the original cover on Linda Howard's MacKenzie's Mission (sorry, googling for it just produced a scarred copy and I'm too lazy to scan MY ORIGINAL one signed by La Linda ;-P). A close second is Patrician Gardner Evans's Quinn Eisley's War.

Do you have a cover that you remember fondly? Or captivated you through all these years? Actually, I have A BUNCH but they aren't romantic suspenses. For example, I really like Laurell K. Hamilton's older Anita Blake covers, the ones before the sexy body part shots, which I also enjoy.

I think darling Hugh would make a Nice, Unconventional cover ;-). He gets nummier with age.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

Ahk! You've been uber-uber procrastinating the last few days! The new game's horrifying addictive (I'm on Level 15) and the Mr. Romance pics were yummy indeed. And those two videos--horrors. But I do get your lesson about plot :D. You see, good teachers are fun and funny! Even stupid movies teach something. As for book covers, I'll buy your book if it's the color duck dodo. Another lesson, please!
