The Makings Of A Bad-Boy Spy

*SIXTEEN DAYS to The Hunter in stores!!!

Or, why I love Bad Boy in my romances ;-).

You can't beat a bad boy when it comes to...well, anything! I mean, take Stanley Kowalski, for instance, AKA as Marlon Brando at his SEXIEST, in A Street Car Named Desire. He was a nothing, a schmuck, a bully and rapist, even, but man, was he the sexy when he was baaaaaad. If you've seen the movie with Marlon Brando, check out the scene when he first walked in, his eyes hooded, looking through Blanche's little act, knowing that she was lying through her teeth. In that singlet shirt. Oh my.

And then fast forward and check out the scene where Blanche went to bother her sister Stella and you can tell from Stella's VERY SATISFIED demeanor that Stan had done more than brushed his teeth before he went off to work. Blanche, in all her uptightness, couldn't understand why her sister stayed with such a lout. But I do, I do! Just look at that expression on Stella's face! Heehee.

You can almost forgive a bad boy for anything because he's bad. Study Stella again...in the infamous storm scene, when Marlon B., I mean Stan (LOL), knelt down and screamed Stttelllllllllaaaaah! in the most impassioned plea. Don't you feel like the most needed woman in the world when you hear that? Stella did. I still do...ah, bad boys is my weakness.

Here's another type of bad boy: take Spike from the TV show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. In the beginning, he was the ultimate Big Bad who deserved to die, and then, we got to know him better. He was just, shucks, a BAD BOY! Damn it, I had to forgive him, LOL.

He had some of the best lines in that show and he was kick-assed bad when he wanted to be. There was no angstiness about Spike, even when he regained his soul, no, no, not for him Angel's kind of moody pain. He was still mad, bad Spike, still sarcastic as ever, and he faced his inner demons the way a bad boy did--not by suffering (like that Angel) but by rejecting it. So he now had a soul, so what...he was still going to be bad, even if it killed him.

Of course, we know how really sensitive the hidden Spike was, like when he read his poetry. There was just a certain meanness about him that was crazily appealing, and yet he protected those that mattered to him. Even without those killer cheek bones, I'd still love him.

Another kind of bad boy is Sawyer from this season's Lost. He was someone who was determined to make everyone hate him. He was sulky, rude, a little crude, and dripping sex when he looked at the object of his desire. And we've seen from his flashbacks how good he was at getting the object of his desire!

The stupid weird island wouldn't have been interesting without a bad boy like Sawyer, I tell you. Everyone would be moaning or suffering or being heroic or mysterious. Not Bad Boy Sawyer. He just went about collecting articles from the plane so he could get comfy, and THEN he started a barter business with the other survivors. That cracked me up. Ooooh, especially when he looked at Kate with a knowing gleam and asked what she could give him for whatever it was she wanted from his cache. Heh heh heh. Classic bad boy 'tude.

So, now I'm going to have to put all these three characters that make me salivate on a Sunday morning and make them into ONE character for my new series. Oh, such an easy task indeed.
