Today Is National Figure Skating Championships

If my girl, Michelle Kwan, hadn't retired, she would have been debuting this short program (Carina Burana):

She unveiled this in Korea last year and brought the house down. Yeah, I miss her so, so much. I'm watching the championships tonight and nope, still can't get excited about it without her.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

awwww sigh :-) so miss her. she was off with the music, but does still have jumps, and clearly was including elements for the new scoring. so very sad she didn't go once more, but i think it would have broken my heart if she hadn't medaled, well if she hadn't gotten gold. so perhaps it is best. though i didn't bother to watch skating but once since she left.

I haven't watched any either but did so last night. The top two ladies were technically wonderful but man, they moved their bodies so awkwardly to the music, one wonders whether they were more contortionists than dancers. There was no tension to the performance at all.

During the top six, the first girl, for her senior debut, (can't remember name) did an iconic MK song for her long program. And really, really shouldn't have because she was nowhere near ready to be compared to MK.

Sasha Cohen made a comeback attempt last night! She was in second place, even, with a chance to go to the Olympics. But, as usual, she choked on the long program. Still can't overcome that career-long flaw. She did have some lovely moments on the ice, though, and you can see that if she had pulled together, that program would have been competitive enough to put her on the team.

I wouldn't mind MK going for a last push. ;) I think she can do it, if her body doesn't break down on her!
