Taking Night Off/Ranger Buddy Break

I wanted to do the last recap but am braindead. The Muse paid a visit today and gifted me with twenty pages! I am in awe at myself and very happily tired out. So, please excuse the inability to write a recount of the Book Fair at the Romantic Times Convention last week. I'll leave you with a nice picture, though.

See? Don't need to be all nekkid torsos to look niiiice, right?

Okay, tomorrow, pics from the signing and the Mr. Romance Contest. But wouldn't you rather have me hooting about writing another 20 pages? No? Heh.

Oh, before I go, here's something to grin about:

Ranger Buddy and Power Point in class. Hahahahahaha. He didn't know how to work it, but his speech went something like this:

"Nobody in both political parties seem to want to deal with the important issue of illegal immigration. The media are ignoring it. The debates don't focus on it. So I guess it's all up to me and my puny little power point to show you real numbers."

You have to be there to watch the ten-minute mini-lecture assignment. The man was from the notorious173rd "The Herd" Airborne Rangers. He could crawl into a hole and hunt the enemy. He could jump from the side of a roof onto a nearby branch without a second thought. He wants to run with the bulls this summer.

But he sweated like a little yelpy dog in the summer heat preparing for a silly little public speech. And his power point demo? A disaster. Ah, that was sweet.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

Hi Gen. I'm really sorry about this but you mentioned it again, so thought I'd better speak up (regarding Ranger Buddy's stand on illegal immigration). This, by the way, is by no means an exhaustive list and only covers 4 quick internet searches and one month:

Current: The New York Times has produced "Election Guide 2008: Where the candidates stand on immigration"
April-25: Obama presses for "comprehensive immigration reform" to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants (NYT)
April-24: Dissection of HRC's flip-flop on illegal immigrants (Washington Post)
April-24: Obama talks to meatpacking workers amid raids on illegal immigrants (Washington Post)
April-23: Colorado State Rep Douglas Bruce calls Mexican farm workers "illiterate peasants" (Fox News)
April-16: NYT had an editorial on New Jersey's crackdown on illegal immigrants.(NYT)
April-11: LA mayor asks Dept of Homeland Security to concentrate on crime-fighting, not illegal immigrants (LA Times)
April-5: Arizona slams door on illegal immigrants (LA Times)
March-29: Gov. Carcieri signs an executive order that includes steps to combat illegal immigration (NYT)

Not to mention extensive articles on illegal immigration (with the required politician quotes) in all the mentioned papers, plus the New York Post, San Jose Mercury News, the Houston Chronicle, Arizona Daily Star. And interviews and opinions from O'Riley, Dobbs, Lehrer, Hannity & Colmes. And everything that's been going on before the past month, with comments from Romney, McCain, Obama, Clinton, Guliani, Huckabee, et al., on their own and each other's stance on illegal immigration.

Moreover, the LA Times, New York Times, Americans for Legal Immigration, American Chronicle, Star Tribune, Time Magazine, etc., are all in (surprising) agreement that the major reason for the huge influx of Mexican workers into the US is due to NAFTA (a US initiative), very high US farm subsidies, and cheap foreign labour. I'm sure Ranger Buddy wouldn't agree, but the topic's been hot for more than 2 years now, and this is essentially what it's boiled down to.

What politicans aren't talking about, is whether the $3-5 trillion of current and projected United States debt could have been better spent on taking care of US citizens and their needs rather than bombing other countries back to the Stone Age (quote, courtesy of the 2006 Secretary of State, Richard Armitage to then President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf).

Kaz Augustin
A legal immigrant ... but how can you tell?

Hazel! Perfect! His PP problem! I'm going to say that to him all day today! Heh.

Lady Zannah,
He deserves to be made fun of. He thinks he's the world's best student ever.

Kaz,
RB agrees with you, baby. It's the media who don't. They do talk around the issue a lot, but I think no one wants to ruffle certain voters, eh?
