Unlike uber-bad boys, we're attracted to Warrior heroes because he has all the qualities we want in a hero. Bad boys might make you swoon, but the Warrior will drag you into his cave before he lets you go ;-).
Prime examples of Warrior heroes: (well, shoot, like you don't know!) Linda Howard alpha males. Can we say John Medina/Temple? Keep that in mind while you're thinking of examples ;-).
Movies first.
Ahem. Warriors...can I say...King Leonidas from 300 anyone? Yes, I can ;-).
Sigh. I never get tired of looking at this video....
The Warrior hero likes to roar a lot, especially if his territory is invaded. He's protective and during times of danger, totally incapable of understanding that his woman can take care of herself. Woe to anyone who hurts his loved ones. Because his wrath knows no boundaries.
Dirty Harry, anyone?
Come on, who's the Warrior in the Lord of The Rings movies? Three guesses. ;-)
The Warrior is probably the first hero I encountered in movies and on TV. After all, I grew up on Chinese Kung-Fu movies, where the hero would get his revenge and half the movie showcased his abs of steel and flying killer-hair while he fought with just one arm.
Can you remember your first visual taste of the Warrior man?

Uber Warrior in Movies

It's strange. When I first read the word "Warrior" all that came to mind was a rather grimy-looking Christopher Lambert in Highlander. But the truth is the very first "warrior" I was enamoured with was in fact MacGyver! Yes, I still recall watiting with bated breath every week to watch my "gun-hating hero" save the day. I think I'm off my game tonight la ladies.
My earliest memory from the movies was John Wayne and Charles Bronson. Those two were the ultimate warriors, when I was a kid. That remained the case until I caught my first glimpse of Bruce Lee. Nothing was the same after that. *ggg*
Fleet Week 1995. My high school was right by where the ships docked and I got my first taste of REAL men.
Up until then, most of the guys I associated with were pretty nerdy. Don't get me wrong, the smart man can be quite the cutie. But I was sick of having to defend my crush against the local ELEMENTARY school bully.
Then the fleet came in. *sigh*
Too bad they tagged me as jail bait. =P
yeah, Christopher pushes my buttons big time. Bruce Willis was always good value in the Die Hard movies, but my all time fav hottie has to be King Leonidas... *sigh*
Fanciful Fern,
McGyver? Huh! Never even thought of him as a warrior type. He's too methodical and doesn't roar enough ;-).But to each her own! I'd put McGyver into a sort of "Friends" category, you know, a Beta hero with Alpha gifts...LOL.
Jordan,
Bruce Lee! Bwahaha. He played classic warrior roles. I don't know why I never liked him. In my preteen days, my kung fu hero was David Chiang. Then I saw Norman Tsui in the original Reincarnated (not the 1993 version) and I was, like, oh yeah... ;-)
SQ,
You troublemaker! And you're still looking at them during Fleet Week, aren't you? ;-) Pictures, next time, please.
Sarah,
You guys are coming up with some examples that never entered my mind! Bruce Willis in Diehard? Yeah...smartass warrior, I suppose. But King Leonidas, no one tops him!!!
