More Uber Scenes

Happy Dog Dance:

Jennifer B, blogger reviewer at Don't Talk Just Read, gave Virtually His a thumbs up. Okay, I'm going to be bigheaded and say that she gave VHIS TWO snaps and a sexy J with virtual reality whip cream on the side ;-). Thank you, Jen!

I enjoyed our game yesterday so much, I'm doing it again today. Quickly, write down several scenes from books that you reread when the mood strikes you.

1) When Johnny Keir, after refusing to stop his woman's wedding to another, AND after a hard night of drinking, quietly asked how many men they could spare, and his friend murmured, "It's about damn time" in Susan Johnson's OUTLAW. The whole scene afterwards with three hundred Scots on horses riding hard to disrupt the wedding and Johnny steals his woman back. Le sigh.

2) When Webb realized Roanna smiled for the first time (and then started counting her smiles through the book) in La Linda's SHADES OF TWILIGHT. Le double sigh.

3) When Ransom went down on his proud knees at the dock, begging Jane to turn away from the departing ship in Christina Dodd's THAT SCANDALOUS EVENING. I love to reread that passage where Jane thought of freedom...and art...and being bohemian in Italy....

4) Elizabeth Lowell's To The End Of The Earth--all the parts with Cat determinedly trying to keep from losing her baby and at the end, when Danver, realizes what scum he was while he cares for the catatonic Cat. Wahhhhhh Wahhhhh, I still shed buckets over those scenes.

So many great scenes! And no matter how I explain it to my guys, they never ever get the "rereading" thing, even though one of them can repeat the dialogue of stupid scenes in movies over and over. Bah.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

In (I think) Reunion in Death when Eve tried to plan a special evening for Roarke and he mucked it all up.

Facing Fear when Rick realizes who Nikki is and hears what was done to her.

LH's After the Night when Gray realizes how much he loves Faith.

Nalini Singh's Slave to Sensation when Lucas thinks that Sascha betrayed them.

I'm sure I'll be able to come up with a few more.

Anne Stuart's Cold As Ice. At the end of the mission Peter Jensen comes home to sell the house thinking there will never be fires in the hearth, babies on the carpet or wild roses for him and finds Genevieve there working in the garden waiting for him to finally come home.

In Marjorie Liu's Tiger Eye. Dela asks Hari if he wants his riddle box to go to a trusted friend or one of their children when she dies and he tells her he'll be dead too without her and he just wants to be buried with her, sleep with her for eternity.

Nalini Singh's Slave to Sensation. Lucas feeds Sascha her first chocolate chip cookie.

Lynsay Sand's Bite Me if You Can. Lucian's been a vampire for centuries. Leigh has been turned but is still hungry for real food. Not knowing any better, Lucain brings her a steamy plate of Prime Cuts by Chef Alpo!

Casee and Leilani,

Isn't it funny how we remember these scenes? Something about them touch our souls and then, later, we go and reread, to recapture that feeling. I find that uniquely romantic.

I went home and re-read Shades of Twilight last night. Couldn't resist. *sigh*

I agree. I was going through some of my favorite Z and Bella scenes form Lover Awakened. Good words heal the soul, you know?

Favorite scenes for me?

Niall in Son of the Morning when he wakes from a dream of his mysterious woman and wonders where she is now.

Wolf Mackenzie buck naked and aching for a woman at the beginning of Mackenzie's Mountain.

Midnight Rainbow when what's-her-name thinks she's being kidnapped and smacks the agency contact with her backpack (containing the hero's boots) and goes yelling for the hero.

I could go on and on, but those were the ones that immediately came to mind. =)
