READING UPDATE

Thank you to the many of you who dropped by at Romance By The Blog and participated in the guestblog! It was fun...lots of sighing over the Bad Boy ;-).

I'm still trying to catch up with email and work, so please excuse the tardiness if you emailed me the last ten days and still haven't heard back. I really appreciate all the feedback you've been sending me about my new series. AND it's good to know you find the hero sexy ;-). And bad. Bad is important, yes?

While I try to get back to roofing, why don't you tell me what you're reading these days?

I picked up Mario Acevedo's X-RATED BLOOD SUCKERS at the CRW Conference. Isn't that an intriguing title?! He told me it's not exactly a romance but I was totally taken in by the title ;-P.

I loved La Linda Howard's newest Silhouette, INFERNO. It was really good, with the kind of Alpha Hero that she used to write. There is a controversial scene in it that everyone is calling "mind-rape." I didn't find it so, and I have a feeling that the term is used because the heroine herself accused the hero of "mind-rape." Which, being an Alpha, he denied, of course.

It was a bit too short but it's a categorical, so within its limits, I think La Linda did an excellent job setting up the background and universe as well as weave a romance through it. It's too bad categories have been cut back another 5,000-10,000 words. It's been a while since La Linda's last category for Silhouette, so I'm sure this new shorter length affected the story-telling in the editing stage. That said, the heroine was strong and certainly was a good match to the King of the Raintrees.

Has any of you read INFERNO?

Any other hot books in your hands right now?

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

I just read Inferno this week. I'm with you on the whole brain-rape, thing. I wouldn't really call it contraversial. As a matter of fact, how he controlled her mind for the first 1/4 of the book bothered me more than the whole mind/brain-rape thing.

I miss LH's old category romances. Diamond Bay. *sigh* Looove that book.

I'm starting a book that Nalini Singh recommended on her blog. A sci-fi/futuristic. Can't remember the name.

I am reading spacey sci fi at the moment. I have just read Stardoc - and loved it, the 1st in a series by SL Veihl. Also have the latest by Linnea Sinclair, which sounds very cool. A couple of Allison Brennan’s books Speak no evil and See no evil, pretty scary! But so far enjoying them.

Would love to read some more like Warprize, any suggestions? She does not seem to have another book coming for a while. :o( AND jusr relised your 2nd one is coming in December, not August as I thought. SIGH!!!!!

Right now I'm reading Hope Tarr's The Haunting...a Blaze paranormal romance with a Civil War soldier hero (ghost) and his reincarnated heroine. It's very, very good! Next up is Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian.

Casee,

O YES! Diamond Bay is my all time favorite. Kell Sabin is so mine too. I know, I'm hog all the good men ;-).

Sarah,
How bad do you want Jed? ;-)

You have some very good books to read! Viehl is pretty dark and so is Alison B's books. How do you find the romance in them? I'll definitely look at my shelves to see if I can find another Warprize-type book. She's so different, it's going to be hard!

Leilani,
The Tarr book sounds yummy! I'll look for it. Thanks!

Sarah and Jenn--

Butting in here because I looooove Allison Brennan. I think that the romance definitely takes a backseat to the suspense, but is really woven well into the story. I'm am particular about getting romance in my books and I've always been happy with her books. Sarah, the last book in that series is the best, I think. I'm curious to know what you think when you're done. Also, have you read Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair? I started it last night and really like it so far, though it seems that there was a book before it.

Ramble, ramble. *g*

Wow, I got games of command in the mail this week! Its on the bedside table and I actually had to stop read Alison B's 1st book in her series as I was getting a bit creeped out. Must be good writing huh? I have a pretty high threshold for creepy and this one was pushing it. But, you know I am such a sucker for wanting to know the end will probably pick it up over the weekend.

Aww Jenn, you know I want him so bad. I'd say sell the 1st and only born, but he is so not a prize at the moment I may have to practice patience!

Games of Command is really, really good!! If you think the 1st book is creepy, you'll be more creeped out by the 2nd, then the 3rd. But they're still really good books!
