Some readers are emailing me as well as saying on my Yahoogroup that they haven't been able to find Sleeping With The Agent at the bookstores. If you are having the same problem, please go to the customer service counter and ask the attendant to check the computer whether they ordered the title. If they have, they should have it in the back in a box hidden under their box of Christmas books. Sigh. It's tough to have a book out during the Christmas season. Many books are left unpacked in the back room. Double sigh. Don't they know authors are neurotic enough about people not buying their books? Now they hide their books too ;-).
Please email me or let me know here whether you're successful AFTER talking to customer service. Usually, the nice clerk will go hunting for it in the back room. HOPEFULLY, said nice clerk will put the books out on display. Sometimes, the publisher has paid for prime space display and if the book isn't out there, the bookstore can get into trouble, just as they would if they put books out too early, before the "street date." Remember the Harry Potter fiasco, when six customers were ordered by a judge to return the book after it was discovered they bought the book a few days too early? That's how serious some publishers are about the hard numbers for certain books.
I would love it if a phone call from my publisher would solve the problem of the unpacked boxes, but alas, it's a prevalent problem for most midlist authors. So we're counting on our readers to help out by asking customer service and pointing out that the book went on sale, like, YESTERDAY. Heh.
Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. I want you to think about 2005.
1) What is your accomplishment this year that you're proud about?
2) What is your favorite read this year?
3) What is your favorite memory this year?
4) What are you grateful for this year?
5) What did you lose this year that you'd like to find?
I'll think about my answers too!

I'll try to answer the 2005 questions another time but as to the stores not having SWTA on the shelf...
Let me encourage all of you to go to an INDEPENDENT bookstore, they're likely to have the book or, if that's not the case, they'll order and have it for you in a couple days (unlike the Big Box stores that tend to say it will take a couple weeks). Of course the holiday will delay the receipt of the book for them...it's always something, you know?
No matter what, do whatever it takes to find that book! You'll be very glad you did.

1) I'm proud that I finished my second book on deadline and, even more so, that it's a GOOD book. (No sense making deadline with a poorly written manuscript.)
2) Favorite read? Oh, Lord, there are soooo many. Your books are up there, of course. So are Revenge Gifts by Cindy Cruciger, Black Ice by Anne Stuart, and Seize the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
3) Favorite memory this year is the month of July. My nephew spent the month with me, volunteering at the dolphin center where I work. I loved that we got to spend so much time together and do many fun activities.
4) I'm grateful for my close, loving relationships with my family and my family of friends.
5) What did I lose? Can I say my mind? LOL Okay, I lost my motivation for eating right and exercising reguarly. I definitely will regain them this year!
Here are my answers to your questions (finally).
1) Proudest accomplishment--excellent question when my tendancy is to think that my life is mundane & uneventful. I think it was gaining my new position at work.
2)Favorite [first-time]reads: Your FACING FEAR (phew!) and Kenyon's SIEZE THE NIGHT.
3) Favorite Memory: My g'daughters dancing at my son's wedding.
4) A new daughter-in-law, my husband's life, my g'daughter's improved health.
5) My youth? No, my youthfulness.

1) Finishing my first novel, and writing and finishing my first novella.
2) It's a toss-up between Linda Howard's To Die For and Marjorie Liu's A Taste of Crimson.
3) Selling the novel. I was jumping up and down, speechless with excitement. That was the first time that ever happened to me. =)
4) My parents' continued good health and beling able to focus on writing.
5) Ummm... I'd say my wisdom tooth, except I know where it went. LOL
