It's my blog and I'll whine if I want to.
You know, being a roofer, I've hurt many weird parts of my body before. For example, I'm sure no one has ever has an infected ingrown pubic hair from too much perspiration and wearing sweaty clothes all day. Ooops, is that too much information in the morning? ;-) But that's another story I'm not telling, LOL. Or, a "back cold" that was the result of sleeping with the fan blowing on my bare back on night after a particularly nasty hot day on the roof. If you never had a back cold, you don't want it.
Or, burned soles (yes bottom of the foot soles) from walking on hot tar roofs (similar, I guess, to burning your feet on hot sand if you walked barefeet on the beach, but lasts a lot longer...).
Or, that cyst in the back of my right knee that cost me $2000 in MRI and doc fees. That cyst taught me a lot. I went to a specialist to tell him that I had a cyst. He looked at it, then sent me to do the above test. When I saw him again, $$$ later, he said to me, "You have a cyst." And that diagnosis cost me another $200. Cost of the syringe used to ease out the cyst-liquid? $10. It said so in my itemized bill. I could have done all that myself and saved the $2000 for books.
Well, this wrist injury has me stumped. Worse, it isn't even roof- or writing-related, not in a physical sense. I can't for the life of me figure out how I did it carrying luggage but something happened on this last trip to Colorado and Nevada. I can't turn my wrists!!! My left one is hurting now too, although it doesn't seem to be as serious.
Due to the angle, it especially aches when I type too long on my keyboard. I ease it a bit by sitting with my legs up on the chair and using my right knee to support my elbow. It's not a very comfy way to sit for hours. Unless, of course, you're Chinese, like me. Somehow it's in our genes to squat like no white people can. Heh.
But it's affecting my work a lot more than I want to. Wielding a nailgun is a pain. Literally. I can't even stir the coffee in my cup quickly! How pathetic is that?
It's not carpal tunnel because I already have that from roofing during the pre-gun days ;-). Of course, we didn't know that what we roofers had was called anything but "pain from too much hammering." I used to wake up at night wondering where my right hand was. And I still can't unscrew the cap off a drink bottle sometimes. But I can deal with that.
This blows. It's hard to pull myself up on the roof. Or carry the usual number of shingles. At least the wrist bone isn't swollen any more. I'll just have to think of something else besides whine about it.

Yah, I might have to use some "fung yao" or "mang kam yao." You can ask your mom about that ;-).
I already use a wrap/brace for the wrist but it's still very sore. All I want to know is HOW I did this to myself...that's the mystery that's really bothering me!
Thanks for your concern too. My roofers didn't have many comforting remarks about my sudden slowness.
How's that for suspense? Did the injuries lead to a fatal or coma-inducing fall from a roof or ladder? Is that why the journal hasn't been updated in over a year? We won't know until it's updating, again!
