Well, shoot me, my website is down and no one can read my COMCEN blog because it's done through an FTP server instead of blogspot. I could, of course, go into blogspot and change the settings temporarily, but what good is that for people who've bookmarked www.Gennita-Low.com/blog ? They would still get an error page. Ah well. Technology can be such a pain.
As you know Al Gore invented the Internet...okay, joking aside, the United States opened up the world wide web through the universities and government in those glory days when only geeks knew about such a thing. When I first played with electronic mail through my university BIGASS computer, I was, like WOW, NEATO! (remember neat-o? No? How about GNARLY?)
Anyway, the world has been changed by the Apple II home computer and e-mail. The web-addresses you use (.com, .org, etc.) still belong to the US because we started this system. However, now...ominous drums of evil portent...the United Nations is asking for the United States to relinquish its ownership of the world wide web and give it to the UN. It is, after all, REALLY world wide now, thus it belongs to the world. The US shouldn't have any claim or control over this little thing called the world wide web.
Besides, if the WWW were under the domain of a World Body, then there could be a uniformed consensus of international law. Take, for instance, hardcore porn and kiddie porn that are abundant on the web and out of the US' legal jurisdiction. With the WWW under the UN, they can stop these people in those countries!
Yeah, and I bet you're one of those world citizens who believe "spam" will be forever banned after the UN becomes King of the WWW. The moment the ownership of the WWW is transferred to the UN., you can expect one thing and ONE THING for sure--a World Wide Tax on the usage of electronic mail. Ya don't pay, no email! Bwahahaha.
You think I'm joking, huh? Ask any uber-spy. It's not that big a conspiracy.
Yes, yes, hurricanes always makes the uber-spy think too much!
Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!
