There are heros and heroines out there who are giving up their time and money to help the people who have lost their homes.
Got this email from Jaid Black:
"I just got off the phone with a very upset, crying Lisa Hamilton(known to you as author JC Wilder/Dominique Adair). Lisa went to Louisiana to help at the shelters as soon as Katrina hit. The stories she just told me brought me to tears and I hope everyone can pitch in and help.
First off, Lisa needs cash ASAP. Cash is the most fundamental needas the needs at the shelter change daily if not hourly. Lisa hasmaxed out her personal credit cards buying supplies that thehomeless victims there need. I have known Lisa for many years andcan vouch for her honesty, integrity and compassion. I implore youto have people send anything they can afford to her paypal account, knowing that Lisa will use that money for the shelters' manysufferers. Her paypal account is wilderwriter2005@cs.com andanything that can be sent - even a few dollars - is appreciated.
Lisa was in tears on the phone, telling me that the Red Cross is NOTthere, FEMA is NOT there. They cannot get through and the NationalGuard won't let them in for reasons I cannot begin to contemplate. Please forward this post to everyone and anyone you can think of who might help.
OTHER ITEMS
Lisa said that they are desperately in need of LARGE men's andwomen's clothes, the bigger the better. (3-5X) She said that many ofthe women are getting on the buses to the shelters naked, only asheet wrapped around them, because they have NOTHING to wear. Shealso needs duffel bags to put the clothes in and children'stoys...anything to distract the children from their harsh reality.Because the predominant number of children are African-American, ifyou choose to send Barbies, dolls, or anything of that nature, please give them a toy to snuggle with that they can relate to.
Sendall items to:

Please do not mark the outside of the packages as anything noteworthy.
I've never heard Lisa so distraught in my life. My stomach is stillin knots from the horrific stories she told me. Lisa said she willtry to blog about what's going on as time, energy, and electricityallows. Her blog is at http://jcwilder.blogspot.com
If you've been looking for a way to help the Katrina victims and don't know what to do, this is a way. Lisa is golden.
