Countdown: It's twenty-one days to THE HUNTER out in stores. Three weeks, yeeha!
All this obsession with time and my bad habit of not noticing what day it was made me realize just this morning that it's already mid-year! Sometimes I shock myself awake ;-). It's June and I haven't even bought my air-tickets for RWA next month. Sigh. And book various other stuff that I really should have months ago. One day, I won't let these things creep up on me. ;-P
Do spies get mundane weeks? Because it's been one of those. It rained heavily and non-stop the last seven days and then, on the first dry day, it was baking hot outside, with humidity enough to have your own free beauty spa by just opening the front door. Not only had it been boring at work, but the mind was deadened by the daily pouring rain (hey, when you're struggling with writing, you blame it on anything convenient!)
The mind is a strange thing. People always ask me how I stand the 120 degree heat on the roof and I always tell them because "I'm hot, baby!" ;-) Joking aside, it's really just a state of mind. I don't let the heat bother me even though I know if I think about how truly miserably hot it really is, my whole mind will start screaming for me to get off the roof! Okay, besides the fact that I'm really "hot." Heh.
It's like finding the right button to push, although after over a decade, I've still failed to find the right one to make me enjoy working in cold windy weather. I suffer through it because it's part of my job, but I do let the discomfort get to me and I feel miserable when everything I'm wearing is sogging wet and I have three hours to go before the work day is done. Believe me, wearing thick wet squishy socks is about the yukkiest feeling in the world. But in my world, you have to trudge on.
So there's this proposal that I've been whining about all week, you see ;-). And I'm looking for that magic button in me. I'm trudging on but it's been no fun. So I'm going to stop for now and just start chapter one. The best part about starting a new project is the first line. I love that feeling, like going off on a new trip/adventure.
The boring proposal writing will just have to wait. I need some action. A romantic intrigue awaits me!
