Which Spy Wins The Uber-Oscar?

No, no, we have to leave out James Bond. He's like the Nora Roberts of spies ;-). I'll pick a great female assassin (and it's not a spy story, but she assassinated every male in that movie, so she's my heroine, heh heh)--Barbara Stanwyck's Phyllis Dietrichsson in DOUBLE INDEMNITY. Man, was SHE KICKASS. And yeah, well, she was evil, so what. Sizzling double-innuendos. Brains and sexual power. You go, girl!

I'm thinking about coming on tonight and doing a blow-by-blow OSCAR report tonight like I did for the Super Bowl. It'd be fun since I don't watch movies, just as I don't watch football, LOL.

Every so often, I tell myself, I HAVE to see this movie. But there doesn't seem to be any time in my life for going out to the movies or even renting a DVD. It's sad. I used to go to the movies every week but that was so long ago, I think MTV was still an all-music-all-the-time channel. That was so long ago, grunge was something that had to be scrubbed from the bathtub two days after a bubble bath. That was so long ago, Scarlett Johanssen was still a twinkle in her papa's eye. Yeah, that long ago.

Sigh.

Not that I don't see movies any more. Only snippets. They come on television and while I'm writing, I see different parts of them. I call it my Universal Timing. Because every time I look up from the laptop, it's the same damn James Bond scene over and over ;-). And I'm too lazy to switch the channel to something more interesting because I'm not really watching, anyway.

I did make an effort to see all three of the Lord of The Rings movies, though. Sat through DVD all Christmas weekend, then went off to see the final part in the real movie theatre. Oooh ahhhh.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE movies and movie-making. There lies the irony. I can lose myself in a film and talk about themes and camera work for hours until I...uh...lose my date. It's just one of those things that sort of get left oo the wayside of priorities. Got to see that movie. Want to. Must. Should. And...in the end...months pass by, and I never did.

But I'm still into the OSCARS, probably the most boring show on earth. I mean, beautiful people sitting beside beautiful people giving awards to each other and thanking each other for beautiful roles in beautiful movies. What a concept ;-).

I was nominated three times for the Golden Heart in the RWA (Romance Writers of America) version of the OSCARS (the Golden Heart is like a mini-oscar for unpubs. Our Oscar, for published authors, is called the RITA), so you know, I do understand the feeling of being chosen by one's peers. OMG OMG OMG, they like me, they weely weely like me....

This is the closest I'll ever get to a RITA:

No, actually, the closest I've ever gotten to a RITA was when da Goddess Susan Elizabeth Philips graciously let me rubbed hers on the heads for luck. It worked, too. I rubbed and asked the writing gods to get me a FIRST SALE ribbon soon. And I sold not long after! ;-) Cause and effect are subjectively connected, but nonetheless, a true story. LOL.

You'll be happy to know that the manuscripts that were nominated for the Golden Heart were the stories of the Missing Commando, Number Three, also with a certain Grace McNeil, ahem, and...T and Alex's chase across the continents, the condensed version. Bwahaha. Nope, none of those sold. Can you imagine...if I had sold T's and Alex's story, there wouldn't have been an Into Danger and then you would have missed Stash's OSCAR worthy performance with Marlena's pearls and Marlena's OSCAR-worthy dress that drove Stash to the brink.

Anyway, where was I...oh, tonight. You're welcome to post along as I post along, in real time, if you feel like it. Shallow is as shallow does. I just might do it, although I don't know whether I'll be awake by the time the last winner stands on the podium. Ranger Buddy has to be out of town for a few days and that means I have to wake up EARLY to go roofing...horrors. On the bright side, I'll be ruling my world alone with my nailing gun. Absolute power, my preciousssssss.

Bear with me while I learn. The first button likes the POST. The second button likes the BLOG site. Please help me by "liking" me. Thanks!

SQ, No, I didn't even know Cherry had a pearl scene in her coming book (at that time) till someone told me. We were both sort of writing it at the same time!

Blushing over the pearls, eh? I have done my job, yay. LOL.

Oh please, comment away! I will then be able to read everything tomorrow since I'll be sleeping during the oscars.

Thinking about pearls, the only time I wore them was at my wedding (and only the first one at that) ; I always thought they were too conservative for me...hmm...I might have changed my mind...mais oui!:-)
